I have been thinking about this for some time now. Why do we all play kendama, it is a very good question

The reason I started playing kendama is because I thought it was cool, somthing different. And I like things that challenge me and I like getting good at things. You can never get to good at kendama there is always room for improvment which I love.

The reason I keep playing kendama is because it is just plain out fun. The feeling of landing a trick that you have been grinding on is like no other feeling. And a huge reason is because of the kendama community. I have made so many friends from kendama.

Let all of us know, "why do you play kendama?"

Its super fun, im a very impatient person and kendama has definitely helped me become more patient in life, ive met awesome people through it, it puts me in a sort of state of meditation. Its something different and something that can challenge me at anytime and theres always something new to learn with it, oh and of course i can bring it with me anywhere and jam anywhere haha thats why i love it And play it

I play kendama because I enjoy the grind of trying a trick forever and the feeling you get when you land a trick is unbeatable. I started craving this feeling some time in middle school, I started riding bmx, but then I found kendama and I can get that same sort of gratification, but anywhere and at anytime with kendama. Don't get me wrong, I still love riding bmx, but getting the same feeling from a kendama is convenient.

Firstly, when i saw my friend doing big cup and easy tricks i thought this is stupid toy, than i saw my best friend bought kendama and i couldn't imagine how he could spend money for something like this. Than i started trying something on his kendama, and i borrowed for one day, it was amazing! My first around the world! So i bought kendama for my own, i bought sweets atack and i was playing so much and i was good at kendama like my friend, and now i play kendama for 1 year and i am much better than him, but i am playing because it is super fun and great feeling when you catch really hard combo. I hope I will meet with some kendama players! Check my instagram @kacper_gasior

Obviously I'm not winning the award for most inspirational reason, but here it is. I used to have many many hobbies. I'd hop around everything to see what I liked. Knife throwing, BMX, archery, skating, scootering, and many more. They were fun but I never sticked to them.
Kendama has been different. I feel a special connection with this little wooden toy. I still feel it when I get deep into the jam. The community is a huge part on why I'm still here. Seeing some sick flow inspires me

It's fun and different and there's always new tricks to do and the places you'll go and the people you'll meet is awesome just from this little toy.

The beauty of the game lies within it's simplicity and endless possibilities.
I'm forever attracted to these types of things, so this is what made me play yoyos, back in '99, and when i hit my first spike, i sorta knew that it had the possibility to challenge my own being and help myself in the longer run.

At first, a friend of mine posted videos on their insta and that got me interested.
After I started it was fun, it was addicting, challenging, everything that we all got to know when we all first started kendama.
Eventually, because I was working with kids at the time, I wanted to introduce it to the kids I worked with and try and get a good scene in my town. Now that I don't work there anymore, it's not something that I really focus on. But I do still help/host kendama club nights at the toystore owned by David Bazan in town.

Currently, it's a bit hard to keep playing tbh. Been stuck in a huge rut and feel like I haven't really been progressing in skill level since NKR2016.
As I near 30 years of age, it's getting a bit difficult to continuing playing with work and other responsibilities in priority.

I got into kendama because I already am a magician and a juggler so when I found a Duncan Komodo at Target I snagged it because I had never seen one before, and since then I never put kendama down. It gives me the same satisfaction of practicing magic or juggling but somehow it's more rewarding. Plus, it's different than magic in that I can just hand a dama to anyone and they can enjoy it, and it's not so hard as juggling so lots of people can enjoy it.

The first thing I noticed when I started playing was how kind almost everyone I've met in the community is. Everyone is so supportive of each other because in the end we're all just playing this game together.

Plus, it's just so much fun!

I strated playing kendama because my friend got a package of three around the time of my birthday and he gave me one. After a few days I realized that a red crackle from toyco wasnt going to cut it if I wanted to progress, and here I am six months in, and still landing new tricks. My friends and I recently strated trying to form group events with competitions and prizes. Having fun with my friends playing kendama has been really funny at times and we have never not had a good time. That is why I love Kendama.

Kendama helps me feel hyped and accomplished when i land tricks that i had been trying for soo long. Through jams, i have met many friends. They are the ones that motivate me to continue playing. Makes me special. The hand eye coordination that i got from kendama has made me be able to juggle balls on a hand, similar to kendama. People r always impressed

I started playing kendama to fill my time being awake, to be less bored so i,d smoke less weed.
It really helped me getting more patient and smoke less weed daily.

    Friends, experiences, and resumes.
I play because it was fun to do with my friends who were all doing it in 2011. As the wave of kendama moved away from Georgia, I made new friends who play it. Once I started traveling for kendama, I continued to do it for the experiences I had with it. Today, I do it for all those reasons, but also to make content that done well enough, I could put on a resume.
It's also kinda fun, I guess

Because I moved in with a buddy a couple years ago who had one, and I couldn't put it down. I still can't. I keep a couple at the office, my car, home.

I keep playing because kendama is a part of my life. Today was Easter, I helped my sister get her first spike today! The feeling of accomplishment on her face, I remember my first spike too.

Where you find me, you'll find a kendama and maybe getting someone to their first big cup.
