Many of us have questions about nunerous players and companies and what happened to them. Players such as Keith Matsumura and Matt DeCoteau. Companies/brands like Avid/KendamaDrama and the like. Where are they now?
Most of y’all may not know who he is, but he’s among the earliest videos that i’ve watched when i started my kendama journey. His name is Sam Miller, or more fondly known as Kendama Joe, he started making videos in 2008, and this was the video that i watched waaaaay back : His signature style is to pretty much dance whenever he gets a trick down, and that made him one of the most entertaining kendama players back then. I happened to find him again when i was browsing in Patreon, whilst signing up for my own account. In an update video, back in 2016, Sam moved from Philly to North Dakota, and was looking for a job in Tennessee (after receiving a PhD), but he stated that he didn’t want to be found (he’ll be busy with research and studies), and that he’ll still continue to play kendama, but i hope he doesn’t stop. So, all the best to Sam, and thanks for being an inspiration to some of us.
I remember watching Kendama Joe's videos. He just seemed like one of those people who picked up a kendama and was good at it straight away!
There are some other epic skilled OGs that still lurk around a bit. Trevor Starnes is a force to be reckoned with, same with Matt Nix from the UK. Trevor has been posting some clips up lately though, and getting some great reactions online!
We did one with Turner Thorne recently: https://www.downspike.com/threads/7-burning-questions-turner-thorne.2270/
Eli Cory Does anyone know what happened to him? His edits for some of my favorites. I remember he had an insta called ecdama for soemthing along the lines of that. I remember he quitted, but did he ever come back? Thanks!
