Wondering what your thoughts are on the advantages and disadvantages of each paint type. Mainly doing this so I can decide which paint to get when I buy my sweets pro model.

Hey! I want to purchase a Sweets pro mod. I'm living in Germany and I could order a new mod
from kendama .de for like ~30€ but only with sticky clear. If I want a mod with cushion clear it will cost me ~20€ more. So my question is, is it worth it to invest nearly double the money or is sticky clear "good enough"?

@naps164 Lots of info about Sweets paint in this thread so your question was merged here.

I believe if you have never tried Cushion Clear, you should try it at least once in your life. It is a unique-feeling paint, not a clear sticky paint like prime, and not a silk rubber paint either. Honestly, Cushion has no equivalent in terms of feel. If you're willing to put up the money, go for it. :)

I copped one of the cop cushions and it was sick but a few other versions of their cushion clear I was very dissatisfied about and a wide range of reasons. Peeling... too much grip to slip and when you get a good one it's nice but you never know

Pro Clear is the best thing ever. If you've ever played a natty, the Pro Clear sort of emulates the best feature of a natty tama; that it gets grippier with age and use. No other paint that I know of really behaves like pro clear.

Cushion is a great paint too, but the peeling issues in humid environments makes me hesitant to buy more. Still, given that a lot of Sweets's market is in colder and drier environments, cushion suits that environment just fine.

Prime Clear is a good, all around factory sticky clear. Only "bad" things I can say about it is that you can find the experience with most other kendama companies, and that hand sweat wrecks the stickiness of the paint (as it is with all sticky clears).

I've yet to try an Atack. I heard people love it though, but Sweets rarely, if at all, releases Atack tamas anymore. I'd love for it to come back though.

I've read good things about Cushion over natty. I think Jake, one of our players, has played one pretty hard over in Manila with good results.

aTack, yup still my favorite especially in humid climes; good down to the wood.

Easiest and most preferred way I can think of is just giving the Nick mod a quick shirt wipe. Another way is taking a bit of rubbing alcohol on a towel and wiping down your tama with that. The second method is only for last resort because you don't want to wipe all of the stick away, especially if you do it frequently.

(Second method came from Nick Dodenhoff's Bray mod unboxing on YT)

I've read elsewhere that "baby wipes" work well but I've not tried them myself.

Yeah it seems like the alcohol solutions work for a bit but are bad for the Tama in the long run. I think sometimes you can feel how thick the coat is, unfortunately this is a thin coat. I'll probably head to ds exchange because the Ken is sooo honed.
