    Hi,

I am currently looking for a new kendama and I created the poll with those I want most (and they are in my price range). Help me choose one, based on playability, not looks.
I own a cushion clear F3 and I find it too tacky, but I like the clear on Krom Slaydawg Ash if that helps with defining what I like to play. Also I rather have lunar balance than slinger balance...

    Thanks ;)

I don't personally have a Kaizen 2.0, but it sounds like it might fit your needs the best from what you've listed. Love my KenCo and love my Ozoras, but if it was me, I'd grab a 2.0 because its new, seems excellent, and I've only heard great things about its lunar balance. Plus silk paint.

Can anyone explain difference between silk paint and cushion clear? Is it also so tacky its impossilbe to adjust without ken wobbling around everywhere?

I find that silk paint has more of a matte paint finish, slightly gritty almost with a little more smoothness than cushion. Cushion feels more like a rubberized paint, even though silk is rubbery, and it tends to grab like a lot, especially once it's really broken in. That's my take on it though. Also, I have only gotten cushion through mystery orders so the paint could have been experimental, each one I received was slightly different.

With that said though I would go with the KenCo based solely on the fact that you might not be able to get them soon. If you don't care about the novelty factor then go with the 2.0, that will be the best for catching lunars.

for me its like this: cushion takes out all movement from the ken, so it just sticks like hell. silk paint is as the name says silky. out of the box it can happen that you need to wobble the ken around like crazy to adjust. once broken in you'll love it. but the tackyness doesnt last as long.
you should go with a premium gold imo.

    similar to rubber paint, yes.
that krom rubber feel lasted longer for me than all the silks i had before.

but are you looking for a tacky yet hardcoat feeling?

So I don't think I would like silk paint. I really liked how my yellow ozora played when it was still in one piece, and I would like something like that. I was thinking maybe the kenco stripe zen will play similiar + I really like the design of it. Not sure about premium ozzies, heard they are not durable and chip easily + they are more expensive.

go for the stripe zen then! they are massively tacky out of the box and break in perfect for birds and stalls. plus: if you're lucky you'll get a ken which is lunar balanced.

Premium green ozora will be noticeably grippier than the gold or white. If you liked yellow ozoras, I would go with premium white. It's the closest paint in terms of playability to a yellow ozora. The green and gold aren't as slippery to the touch, and they are grippier paint formulas. However if you are looking for lunar balance, the kaizen 2.0s are probably the best option. Silk paint doesn't get as grippy as cushion clear, at least it never did for me. Lunars are great with the new 2.0 shape. However, if you pick up an ozora, lunars will be alright. You just gotta want em more with an ozora ;)
