Where are all my fellow lefties at? Are there any tricks you find difficult to throw down because you are a leftie? Do any tutorials frustrate you because they are shot from a right handed persons point of view? Do you ask any companies to string your kens for a lefty or do you just do it yourself?
I don't find tricks harder, but sometime it's a little weird trying to learn from a tutorial (if they are right handed). My first kendama I ever owned; a Yumu; I actually played it strung right handed for a good while. I never ask the company I'm buying my kendamas from to string them left handed; mainly because I might want to pick a different color/model string; as well as the length of the string.
I just find left handed people so amazing. I can't even hold a spoon with my left bc im retarded... Do you feel the same about your right hand or are you ambidextrious?
What's weird for me is that I do most things left handed; with the exception of the use of scissors, playing guitar, playing drums and shooting shotguns.
I'm semi ambidextrous. I play stringed instruments right handed and I shoot and pass with both hands when I play basketball. I can write with both hands but only cursive with the right. I did an experiment where I wrote lines of poetry with each different hand and went back and forth, it was really weird.
I know that Chris Do is left handed but plays dama right handed lol I've also heard of some players that can only do certain tricks with the opposite hand. There's also players like Kenyatta that ate semi ambidextrous in play that are so fun to watch play.
When I was a kid, the teachers at school thought I had a learning disorder because I could not cut straight lines with a left handed pair of scissors I've tried playing dama right handed; it's pretty ugly
Southpaw here, I find no disadvantage whatsoever. I've abandoned asking companies to string shipments lefty, because they never do even when you ask. I can still decipher in tutorials what I need to do from a left handed point of view for the most part. Shout out to the grooviest lefty flow artist @Kenyatta Williams
I'm honestly really trying to put time to practice using my left hand so I can eventually play dual dama someday.
