Has anyone tried a SU Lab kendama from the Japanese Company? They look very cool to me, but I have almost no information about them other than seeing their products online, and seeing pros like Iji play fskd tamas.

I do think that the customizable aspects that you can choose on their website look awesome!

The man himself gifted me a Sync Pastel and a Maple Natty / Walnut stripe last year.

The natty performs like any other natty, but their rubberized paint is pretty awesome!
Not too grippy, while being smooth enough to make minute adjustments.

    Highly recommended.
Plus, Su himself is an awesome dude!

I'd love to order the SULab FSKD tama setup but sadly, their website does not offer international shipping D':

I believe Japan has parcel forwarding services.
    Try them out!
Otherwise, if you have contacts living there, it's the best.

hi guys. i live in tokyo and visit su lab weekly for lessons and just to hang out. i was just there today!

i can confirm the rubberized pastels are badass. for me, it's a nice balance of tack and slip. he'll also custom paint whatever sorta colors on your tama, and he said he's going to do custom orders for the rubberized pastels soon! his dazzle paint is where you wanna go for ultra tack. he also puts burn lines on your natty tamas for free!

the kens are wonderful, and he recently released (december 2016) some AMAZING full ash sync kendamas. i can not begin to explain how ridiculous it is. i've played nearly everything, it's by far the most balanced all-around ken i've had my hands on, in my opinion. i hate myself for not being able to get one of the 30 he put out lol. he's planning on putting out a birch in april!

as for the fskd tamas, they are also great. they break in wonderfully, and su has one on a maple craft at the moment, it's broken in sweet and i watch him regularly first try some ungodly bird combinations. today he was landing stilt, stilt over valley, swap bird over valley (kwc 2015 level 10).

for sure, if you get a chance to be in tokyo, scooping up some of his stuff is a must. for those of you wanting international shipping, i'll be sure to tell him and see what he thinks!

i'd be happy to answer any questions you guys might have about su lab the best i can. also, sorry for the ridiculously long post.

I was able to get a su lab painted tama at MKO this year. had to get the pastel blue one :D i paired it with my RWB maple ken and i love it! the paint is nice too with a slight stick yet it still has slip.

i've been seeing those fskd damas on instagram (i think it's called rex and tops?) and they look awesome! i'd love to get my hands on one if it's available internationally

I recently copped a su lab tama from rwb at batb and it's honestly op. Tracking is fantastic, and the paint has the perfect amount of tack (so far, haven't completely broken it in)

Awesome that you guys are so interested in the Lab! I live in the same city (Kawagoe, Saitama) as Su Lab and have mucho Su Kens.
Su Kens are your run of the mill kendamas. Quality for a nice price. I really like the wide selection of woods they sell. Not to mention the ken only or dama only options. Since Su (The owner's name is Su) paints tamas, it's a great place to get that dream custom you've always wanted. That is, if you can stop by the shop. I know for a fact that he's shipped product to Germany so I'm pretty sure they can do international shipping.

I don't have too many pics of the details of their kendamas but here's a couple.
    * SuKen V2, Left to right: Rosewood, Ash, Keiyaki, Zebrano
    * Krom Delux & Viking: Su Paint
    SuKen_Exotic.JPG Krom_Zombiedama_2.JPG
The SuKen V2 are not being made anymore. Now they only have their V3s. The details of the kens are that the sting hole sits left like Sweets F3s or Ozoras & there is no logo on the base cup or the big cup rim. _IGP5867.JPG
The rubber paint they have is very similar to DWI rubber.
The FSKD (Rex & Tops) tamas are like KROM rubber.
He has his Dazzle Paint, which is like others were saying, "Good balance between slip and tack".
Their big deal is the Sync kendamas. Like Michael was saying up top, it is an all around killer, but sadly sold out now. Very small runs.

Yeah, any other questions you guys have, just let me know!

Anyone know if @RWB Mfg is making the current SuLab kens? Their IG posting have them tagged in every post.

rwb only makes the synckendama, not the sukens. also su is an rwb rep so that might have something to do with it!

Wow didn't realise RWB made the Sync ken. I tried one when I was at sulab last month and it was really nice, wish I could have bought one really.

I’ve been seeing a lot of su lab made in japan kendamas and just curious if anyone has had a chance to play them ? I know there is a drop coming 4/24/21 and wanting to get one, however the length of the cups look kind of short and If I got to spend 100$ for a kendama I want to be able to fit my fingers under the cups for slingers.

@Ghost Fox We had a similar thread so yours has been merged.

As to your question I can only go with what I've been reading about them and it by and large is good particularly with their latest design. They've been so popular outside of Japan that they've had to restrict how many are sold in a single transaction because of the limited runs of them. Their paints seem to be particularly well liked. Other information can also be found on Kendama Discord Server.
