for anyone who has a dave mateo Plus mod, are they super heavy? Because it seems like they would be.

It is surprisingly not too heavy. I have plenty of normal sized kendamas that are heavier, it does not wear me out when playing, and string tricks are very fun to do on mine.

Is there a way to know for sure if your tama is eggy? I think my dot burst might be because the ken tilts back and forth a lil on lunar.

I just use the big cup and put it in various places on the tama. First directly over the bevel and then in places on the side of the tama where I personally do lunars. I just hold the ken down and tilt it in a few directions to see if there are any leftover gaps. If there are, then I know for sure that it's eggy.

Best way to do my technique is by using a ken with massive cups like a POP, Prime, Shift/Slim, Squab, or Active V3. Like just go all over the tama with the big cup until you find that one area that's eggy.

But in all honesty, I don't know. I personally love the look of it (because white and gold are just amazing together), but the only problem for me is not being able to cop...

Get both haha, but get Dwest's mod if playability is the main concern. Maple Shift > Maple Kaizen.

Heavier kens are better for learning control. Krom pops are pretty decent. Something with a wider bottom cup helps as well.

I think Purple Heart taps nicely. So does my maple base hole No Jumper Dama. Hard to say if lighter or heavier wood is better... I don’t think booty holes matter much for taps but do have a different feel.

They’re smoother and harder so they’re supposedly more ideal for gunslingers and taps I guess.

They’re heavier. More weight typically makes juggles easier for me

I dont like Maple kens for the same reasons people love them... they take too long to break in and are too smooth for my taste. The rougher grain of the Ash gives me more feel and control.
