Hello I'm sure this current topic might exist somewhere on this site under some painting sub, however when I searched I couldn't find it. This question goes out to people who like to paint their own things.: Would you ever consider 'Hydro painting' / 'hydro-dipping' a tama, (or have you already)? Would you be interested in these making a comeback through any company- not just sweets? I personally think these things look pretty cool and would love some new color-ways using this OG technique. The way the tama looked I thought it was labor intensive but that has to be the easiest way to paint a tama that I have ever seen. With such a dope design too. Great vid. @goenKendama
Apparently they are back to using this method. I heard that hydro-dipping is how they made the new Oase mod. Could be wrong, but it does explain how they made the design so clean. I'm all for the use of it since it can make cool designs. And once you put a good clear over it like the prime clear, it should hold up
They did the same for the reed stark mod as well. Back in the day sweets actually released some kens and tamas that were both dipped. the combo together was really tacky. I have only seen a few of them in peoples collections (via instagram) I believe these were called 'Flow(s)' and they looked more like the tama I used in the original picture.
Yeah I heard Reed's was the first of the hydro-dips, excluding the past ones. I'm guessing they're going to stick with it since they made those sick Gallagher mods. Those Flows must be pretty rare then, don't believe I've seen a ken hydro-dipped before!
Apparently "poor man's hydro dip" has been around for a while. There are several videos using just spray paint and a bucket of water.
Wonder how it would hold up. I saw the bahama kendama one you posted back when I first started playing but I didn't think much of it. Guess Sweets figured out how to do it well!
I mean getting a gnarly design is half the battle. It doesn't matter what the composition of your hydro dip is as long as you have a good clear coat.
I wonder if different types of paints (oil, watercolor, etc) could do when exposed. I have seen mostly the sheet stuff like bahama's vid, and spray paint diy videos.

Everything is Hydro Dipped! Well.. not EVERYTHING. But If you see a pattern or image on a tama it's probably hydro. Like all of Krom's stuff, Sweets Grain Splits and Sig Mods, etc
