Hey slayers/slayettes, was hoping I could get a little bit of a guide/tips n tricks on a certain downspike trick. I've just recently got into downspikes, and I'm having a lot of fun.. Anywho the one in particular goes like this : you do a downspike ( in any downspike grip I'm assuming) and then you kinda swoop the tama under and over your arm back up in the air and then downspike it again. I have no idea if this has a name, or if people will even understand what I'm talking about :D.. But yeah any tips or advice on this trick would be awesome, I've tried for maybe ten minutes a couple times and just can't seem to figure it out.. I'll find somebody doing it in a video if nobody knows what I'm describing.. lol Thanks - Jaret

Is this a legit downspike or not?

I find it easier to spike the hole closer to 12:15 than 12:00 noon.

Based on my recollection of competition rules that I can't currently find, Downspike has to be caught going down not horizontal like the video above.

Ok I finally got the legit downspike.

    1. You should swipe down with the ken as the tama is rising. The opposing forces helps keep the tama ‘locked’ onto the spike long enough to do step 2.

    2. Swoop and scoop it out of the air in one deft, confident motion. Hit it and twist your wrist. You have to commit and not pause or feel or check... just do it!
