Does anybody have any advice for landing underbird eclipse? I can't seem to make the tama stay on the underside of the big cup- whenever I release the ken from my hand the tama flies right off. I've tried to get the tama more locked into place by doing some pressure underbirds before I attempt the eclipse, and that makes the tama stay in the underbird position a little bit longer, but not long enough. Any tips are appreciated. Thanks!
Lol Underbird Eclipse isn't a beginner-level trick by any means, but here's my take. 1. Your choice of kendama matters in this case. Use a setup where underbirds lock in. It isn't enough that your kendama is stall honed; the tama literally has to stick to the ken when you do underbird. My Underbird Eclipse setup is a Beech Natty with a ken shape prime for stalls, and super worn-in tama bevel. 2. Toss the kendama into the air with a slight rotation only. Don't focus on flipping the kendama, cause that will "unlock" the underbird. Focus on a lofty toss with a slight upward-curving hand motion to ever so slightly let the ken rotate. 3. Be lofty.
