Decade mod as the 9yr is bad quality wood and it's a krom so weights are trash

Decade for sure. 9yr is a larger shape and i find it difficult for juggles. my decade mod is much more accurately weight matched as well

As I mentioned in that post over at FKC, that’s pretty predictable for zebrano wood, it’s a brittle wood and tends to chip pretty easily.

You sure it's the wood not the lamination? I've seen some laminated woods separate at the margin between different layers.

It always depends on the quality of the zebrano. I have a Dao Zebrano and that isn't bad wood at all but if you buy cheap and produce cheap then thats what you get when you buy krom lol

Not every wood though will keep the same level of density no matter if it’s higher quality. Regardless this is still a risk for any zebrano wood ken and other similar porous woods. Additionally, there are many different kinds of species of woods, different maples, different ash woods, etc. i can guarantee that whatever wood this ‘zebrano’ and whatever wood that dao ‘zebrano’ are not the same species (and most likely one of them isn’t truly zebrano either) so you can’t really compare the two with each other.

that's more or less what i was saying. Krom buys cheap "zebrano"
Dao buys higher quality (Not only zebrano but beech, maple, ash)
As for the comparison I am able to compare because Krom CLAIMS its zebrano and with Dao i have actual proof and can even find out where from exactly its sourced.

As long as both brands claim to use zebrano I feel in the right to compare them as Zebrano whereas one of them is trash
Edit: to further support my argument about dao buying High Quality - Beech is Austrian wood, Ash also from Europe, maple is canadian and you can tell by the consistent weights you get.
Also I have special ash kens from dao which are made from the most inner part of the tree and is waaaay denser, sturdier and feels like maple but better for stalls)

Also: One might realize when reading my comments that I dislike krom but that's to do with what products i have received from them
Regarding to my love for dao and why i defended/argument for it is because i KNOW that its highest quality possible, I KNOW I'm supporting a great owner and team and finally I KNOW that i get what I pay for

Sorry for typos/weird wording as I'm typing on mobile)

“As long as both brands claim to use zebrano I feel in the right to compare them as Zebrano whereas one of them is trash“ How can you state that when you are basically aware that what one company buys isn’t the same wood species as the other? That’s pretty much comparing apples to oranges now. Tbh your comparisons seem to be based on personal feelings as opposed to a more objective view which doesn’t truly help anyone when they ask for suggestions and help, though it is hard to truly divorce the two when giving advice.

Well to further add to this. I have really like every Krom kendama I've ever had and I liked the 8yr bday so I'd probably like the 9yr. That being said the decade mod look really sweet and I'd love to try one

I look at it from my professional standpoint which is material testing.
If one manufacturer claims is Molybdenum something something powder has those and those properties and another says His Same powder has those and those and i test both and one of them is inferior I compare them just as I do here.
I know that lets say the china supplier has wider tolerances in purity than the south america one. I still have to treat them the same in my comparisons.

Also: If someone asks for advice/ opinions on one kendama or another of course I am going to put my personal standpoint in my decision. That's literally the point of asking for opinions. You want other peoples impressions of Prod A vs Prod B

We're probably drifting a bit off of topic so if you guys wouldn't mind let's see if we can keep things related more closely to the OP's interest. Of particular interest to them would likely be folks who have actually played both for an extended time. Anyone out there with that experience? :D

    Gotcha haha sorry
I have played both (Decade for longer than the Krom)
and my verdict is still Decade (especially cushion clear)

If that's not enough maybe this helps:
When buying the Decade you support a great dude + brand
and if you buy krom you just support the brand

Decade mod is the finest kendama in my collection. And nothing I’ve tried plays better. It’s like a ‘magic kendama’ that stalls, grips and balances perfectly.
