So I have really been wanting to get some bulk string that I can just keep cutting off of a spool, and I am having trouble finding the right variety. I remember seeing names and sizes being thrown around (lovely knots, 1mm/1.8mm). I purchased some neon yellow 1 mm nylon knotting cord non amazon and was pretty disappointed, though it was smooth and played good and stayed out of the way, it is soooo thin feeling even though I heard 1mm is the right size. Its so thin that no matter what kind of knot I tie, it gets sucked into the bead eventually and gets all twisted. Any insight or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You can use search "String" in "titles only" and find lots of info. However I believe @azleonhart was talking about this string thread in particular.

so i've noticed a few of you over the years have saved quite a bit of money by resorting to buying 1mm silk/satin cord from ebay/amazon. i prefer long string lengths anyways and the longest i can find provided by a kendama company is only 6 fingers. this has turned me onto the idea of buying from non kendama sites such as ebay/amazon online. is there any vendors or links you could provide with high quality string?

also i need to buy beads/bearings for the tama (bulk from amazon or ebay of course) but i have not been able to find what size i need.

if anyone could link or recommend some silk/satin cord and some beads/bearings it would be greatly appreciated.

    What do you consider 'bulk'?
Depending on the quantity you want, I could maybe offer some solutions. We have a good stock of strings, beads, and bearings in the Terra shop

I was under the impression that 6 finger strings were long, but when they came, they were still too short for my taste. Is there somewhere I can get longer ones? I can’t seem to find any online.

Google Lovely Knots. Many players go and get strings from them by the spool.

I am not sure, i havent bought them myself yet. But if you are a member of the Facebook Kendama Community group (if not just search the name and request to join) use the search tab within the group and look up Lovely Knots, there will be many posts about it that you can look through to find out the answer

1mm is the standard string thickness. Although some players (Ben Herald) play 0.8 and Eslayban plays 1.5(?) If i remember correctly. So it's all preference
