Anyone know if there's a way to watch the red & white Japanese new year special so we can watch the Kendama heros?
Who are the kendama players performing during it? Here is info on this new year special. Screengrab from wiki so you don't even have to click:
Here's a pic of the group https://instagram.com/p/BOhCHPEgrQ7/ I was able to read in one of their posts: Zoomadanke Tamotsu Kubota (Gloken Representative) Matsuzawa Tomoyuki (Gloken/Zawa Shop Owner) Iwata Kazuma (Mugen Musou) Shimadera Katsuaki (JKA 7 Dan) Akimoto Satoru (Kendama Plaza Spike Manager) Taku Hatanaka (Sweets Pro) Rinda? Linda? (Burnside Owner) Suu (Su Lab owner) Morimako (kendama rock cafe) Yoshi (Tsurugi Representative) Also pictured is Hayashida Daisuke Edit: Also, I grew up watching this and it's been pretty hard to watch this unless you have subscription to the Japanese Cable Service. It'll definitively be online "somewhere" so I'll definitely post it once it's up.
zooma, su, matsuzawa, Taku, akimoto, kazuma, shimadera, and some others here's zooma's insta post with everyone tagged https://www.instagram.com/p/BOq_SCUg6Kh/ Also I found if you're in Hawaii, KIKU broadcast the special on Sunday starting at 5p
It's the name of a Japanese Kendama team (剣Tsurugi) Ken Tsurugi. I've been trying to google where or what the team is about but no luck Edit: okay I'm going to need confirmation on this one but I think the team is from the Saga Prefecture in Kyushu
Just a little about the Red and White show.. The Red and White show is pretty much the biggest show in Japan. It takes place every year on December 31st, and families gather around the TV to watch this show to finish off their year. I'd say a good comparison would be the Superbowl in America. It was an AMAZING advertisement for kendama in Japan. Since the show aired, I've had people tell me everyday that they were expecting to see me in the background playing kendama with everyone! I hope someone out there takes interest in the dam through the show and picks one up. Definitely a victory for kendama. I only wish it were.. like a hip hop performance or something. A little more 'street as heck' would have been cool.
