OK So the original poll gave us a tie with both Amibi or switch-hands and Penguin grip swaps giving us 23.5%. There can be only one, to quote an old movie, so here's your chance to cast the deciding votes. (for some reason I'm unable to select no multiple votes)
The results are in. The winner of the 2018 Trick of the Year is: Penguin Grip Swaps How did your preferred trick do in the polls? Will second place, Ambi/Switch Hands, be a "thing" in 2019?
Possibly, but I can understand why penguin grip swaps won out. Penguin grips are weird, but still within the realm of conventional kendama play. Not many people would dare venture into ambidextrous tricks, which I can attribute to players not wanting to start over from beginner level (as you mentioned in one of your articles, sir).
I don't know, I think maybe it may be the next "thing." Multiples would seem to get kind of tedious and I'd think that creating really unusual tricks would be harder than just learning to be ambidextrous or doing two hand (two kendama) tricks like some yoyoers do.
