I love begleri! I have been making a bunch for me to use and trying out different types. I have made a bunch of monkey fist begleri.
I figured I would revive this thread instead of clogging up another one with only begleri talk. I'm starting to get really hooked! But I don't feel like I'm learning very much very fast. I'm stuck in top and high grip and mainly doing basic rebounds and slips. Any recommendations on what to work on next or general "next steps" for progression?
HOW DO YOU HAVE SUCH A BEAUTIFUL COLLECTION?? Practice going from mid grip to high grip in a two finger roll and back
Haha right on. Oh and to answer your earlier question/exclamation - I bought 2 sets of AO everyman (aluminum and brass) which essentially gave me a third set since I'm only using 4 of the weights (hardcore guts system) in the aluminum and none in the brass. Then that other weird set with the neon green paracord I just made today using 5/16ths sockets. That's a $3 begleri set that work awesome.
Here is my current begleri set in order of purchase: 1. Aroundsquare Titans: Such a beautiful set. I got them before they officially came out in a preorder. They're a bit heavy for my liking but feel amazing when they get some speed going. Titanium 2. Duncan Counterweights: I had these laying around for a while and although they are used for 5a yo-yoing, they work surprisingly well. Too light and big for my liking. Plastic 3. Brass knurled nuts: I bought these two days ago at Ace Hardware. 4 brass knurled nuts and 8 o-rings make up my favorite set to date. Play and look amazing (kinda surprised how nice they look). The weight and size is perfect for me. Definitely recommend making them for starters since they're so cheap and good. 4. Chiquita Bananas: My mother bought these this week and she told me to take some, so I said "Why not?". Honestly, she should stay out of the begleri business because these are horrible. They're so slow and heavy moving and they give me too many bruises. They're just not very appeeling to me. Potassium
@Ben Lowe where do you get aluminum Everyman. @7Cabbages can you give me the size of the rope and nuts and o rings I prefer a lighter smaller set to and that set looks awesome.
The Everyman can be bought here: http://www.aroundsquare.com/shop/ The rope is paracord and it's 275. The nuts are brass knurled nuts and I forgot the size but it's about as tall as the length of my nail if that helps. Just go to your local hardware store and look for them.
I got it preorder before the Everyman were officially dropped, secret shop from being on the email list. Currently you can buy the heavy metals. And I think Matt will be releasing a new aluminum line of Everymans soon too.
What are your guys' thoughts on thumb chucks? Obviously very similar to begleri, but with some decided differences too.
One of the best ways that begleri has entered the commercial world. Definitely a ton of hype on them. First time I've seen any begleri type of anything in ads, it was those. I also find it neat how some pro slingers are collaborating with them. As for play, they seem too round and big for my liking
