I really want to cop a kaizen 2.0 but I'm only allowed one, I really want the 70/30 with the dark blue on top with the lighter blue on the bottom however beech isn't really my wood, never tried a half split before and apparently they are great so wondering which I should get. Anyone have any input?

Go with the maple. Honestly you are just sacrificing color preference if you get the maple, but in return you will get a much more durable wood that has a nice natural grip to the silk.

it does suck that beech has the best colorways, but i have to agree with @Raybulatao maple > beech any day.

Cop the halfsplit. You say you've never had one before so I say go for it. You can't go wrong with maple anyway

Maaaaple all the way. In my opinion beech can sometimes be overly grippy to silk. Plus once beech starts to splinter and stuff it makes it hard to lighthouse and what not. But with maple it's nice and sturdy and won't really split on ya.
