Yay to my first DS post! I'm happy that my first post is about merging two things I love right now - kendama and crocheting. I'm planning to add ears and eyes to some of the 'kendama beanies' I have just to make it a bit more fun. The only downside to making these is that it hurts my wrist and makes it a bit more difficult to practice kendama the next day.

Very creative first post; looks cool. What kind of yarn/thread did you use? Maybe if you intersperse some kendama play with the crocheting you're wrist would be the better for it. ;)

Thank you! It's made of milk cotton yarn which is thick but can still be hand-washed easily. I'll try playing and crocheting next time and let you know!

If you mean the one below, I thought it was a bit more form over function. While a cross-draw Samurai style setup looks good it ends up bumping into everything. I tried to use it for a while then ended up putting it in a drawer only to be pulled out when I want to it to folks who haven't seen it in person. I'm still looking for the perfect carry method but most of the time I use a chalk bag used for rock climbing; maybe not as cool looking but way more functional.

wrist strap from a flashlight. added the carabiner and works pretty good for attaching it to trousers or a backpack IMG_20171121_171951.jpg IMG_20171121_172119.jpg

Any suggestions on how to carry 20-30 kendama without having them get all bungled up and still easy and quick to deploy? I would like to make a "event bag" that I can take with me but it needs to be something that I can get the kendama in and out of quickly. The reason for the quick part is that in the beginning everyone wants to start playing and at the end we have to bug out quickly and just tossing them back into a bag like a duffel they end up a tangled mess. I was looking for a tool bag/case that had dividers like a case of wine but shorter.

The first thing i could think of is to DIY something.
Small suitcase or something similar and some fabric
The fabric you stick/sow into one end of the suitcase and push the rrst of thr dabric towards the starting point so that a loop in the size of a dama forms. sow/stick that to the suitcase and repeat.
In the end sow/stick one side to the suitcase so that a pocket forms.

(not sure how well this would work but i guess it's kinda cheap and fairly easy to do)

@MJ Brother Thanks for the idea. That just might work. I'll head over to Tokyu Hands and see if they've got something like that and take a kendama with me to see how it fits.
