Thought I’d start a “Like” thread for those of you obsessed with getting more DS Trophy Points!

Just post anything you like! A pic of your current dama, the last trick you laced, the name of your favorite pro, etc. Just name the thing that put a smile on your face most recently.

Over the next few days I’ll be sure to check this thread and hook you up with those Likes for Likes for Trophy Points! I encourage all of you to do the same for each other! Let’s have a Like fest! What do you like?

I like my new DeSoto mod by Sol Kendamas. This thing is solid! It slays like a murf.

Ok, let me start by saying that I actually had this idea a few weeks ago, but I decided not to do it for this reason: the trophy points and "ranks" on DS are supposed to show your experience and contribution to the community, and I feel like this "cheap likes" idea would sort of take away from the contribution/experience quality. I know its really not that big of a deal, but the ranks and trophy points and stuff is a fun thing to strive for so that people can earn it, and because of their contribution, they are rewarded with points. @xplodit, please don't get me wrong, I'm not dissing you or anything, this is just my humble opinion, and if people like your idea and think that I am stupid for saying this, so be it, as I said, this is all IMHO.

I greatly appreciate your perspective on the issue. The intended purpose of this thread is to promote positivity and community, not to bank up cheap likes. This is an opportunity for everyone to put a little of themselves out there without it being topic specific. This is simply about the things that make you happy, with the added encouragement to engage each other in this forum.

I only need a few more to get to 500. That would be dope but I think I'll get there either way. But it doesn't matter. If people wanna like stuff than they will. No harm putting a thread out for it.

I like bb's and trip loon flips. And also, dub inward loon back flips.

Border balances. If you don't know what they are, look em up. They are rad. But pretty tough to do for a long time.

Maybe a little bit is for cheap likes, hahaha! Regardless, you can’t get a “like” without making a contribution to the thread anyway, so that’s “earning” it to my understanding.

Hey guys I would love your opinion on whether or not an edit requires an elaborate intro/ B-roll was important, or if people preferred letting the tricks speak for themselves. I have probably 10-12 tricks totaling about 3-4 minutes right now, and was curious if i should shoot some bonus 'non-tricking' clips to make my edit more appealing, also DS points are cool, and i didn't know where else to post this . Thanks bois, keep shredding

Editing in an intro, B roll, extra angles, etc. greatly up the entertainment value. Even the coolest tricks can seem mundane when they’re just edited one after another with little to no transitions. If you can do multiple consecutive tricks in one take not edited, that’s super killer. That being said, don’t go overboard on extra footage. You’re not in the Sweets Studios. Just try to make your video entertaining to someone that has no clue about kendama. Good tunes that are edited in sync with camera angle changes, cut scenes, or tricks always impress me.

It may be because I have no experience in viedography or anything like that, but I wouldn't care much about that extra stuff. If you land a triple stilt flip insta double insta single to in with no music or anything I would think that's awesome. I do suppose the extra stuff makes the viewership better and makes your edit seem more complete in a sense, but I watch videos for the tricks and style they bring. Good tricks will stand out in any style of edit I think. Just my opinion.

And if I made an edit all by myself, it would be a bit boring I guess, because I don't know how to do editing and junk. I could shoot some b roll bit it wouldn't be a focus point. but there would be a plethora of tricks I think are rad.

I don't think edits always need B-roll. All of the edits back in the day didn't use B-roll, it was just a compilation of tricks one after another. I think Matt Ballard was actually one of the first people to start incorporating B-roll into his edits (don't quote me on that).

That being said, B-roll is a great way to seamlessly transition from one clip to the next, rather than just a hard cut. As long as you don't go overboard with it, of course. If you feel like the B-roll can make your video better, shoot it.

Participation is voluntary, and this has been a fun thread for those who have. Nothing wrong with that, but if the mods don’t like it, I will graciously accept defeat.

I don't see anything wrong with it. It doesn't violate any rules or anything that I'm aware of. Let the good times roll.
